Floor Associate

Summary/Objective

The Floor Associate is responsible for obtaining or receiving and stocking merchandise, totaling bills, accepting payments and making change for customers in retail store.

Essential Functions

  1. Ensure that each guest receives outstanding service by providing a guest friendly environment, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of guest service.
  2. Stock shelves, counters or tables with merchandise.
  3. Set up advertising displays and/or arrange merchandise on counters or tables to promote sales.
  4. Stamp, mark or tag prices on merchandise.
  5. Obtain merchandise requested by customer or receive merchandise selected by customer.
  6. Answer customer questions concerning location, price and use of merchandise.
  7. Calculate sales discount to determine price.
  8. Keep record of sales, prepare inventory of stock and order merchandise.
  9. Check dates, rotation and presentation of merchandise.
  10. Maintain the showroom, self-service dog bathing area and stockroom clean and orderly.
  11. Maintain daily opening/closing check list of dog bathing area.
  12. Ensure that patrons adhere to company policy regarding the self-service dog bathing area.
  13. Assist with feeders when needed.
  14. Adhere to all safety procedures according to company and OSHA standards.

Work Environment

This job operates in a retail environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items that weigh more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time or part time position. Days and hours of work vary by schedule. Evening and weekend work are required as schedule demands.

Required Education and Experience

Previous retail or customer service experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED.
